About Not Technobabble

Consumer electronics surround us.  They are part of the fabric of our lives.  The often reflect our utilitarian nature or help convey our sense of style and taste.  And sometimes, when designed and engineered well, they will accomplish both tasks.

There is no escaping the plethora of devices that fill our lives and it is likely we will, as time goes by, find they become even more important and integral to our daily wants, needs and desires.

As much as they can make our lives better, easier, more enjoyable they can also cause us no end of consternation and frustration.  I find few things in my life can lift me to such highs as well-crafted consumer electronics, but when a problem rears up with one….well….expletives fly and anger frequently boils over.

I have a great deal of interest, respect, curiosity and fascination with most things consumer electronics oriented, but especially those devices and such that are related to computing and entertainment.  I read to a great extent about what is out there, what is likely coming and what may come and enjoy being informed and knowledgeable.  And much of my reading and research becomes the impetus for actual purchases of such devices.

But there is much in the way of technobabble out there regarding consumer electronics.  Some folks like to use this highly affected jargon to separate themselves from lessor mortals who do not understand such matters.  For others it is simply a means to confuse the end-user into making a purchase.  But I have spent many years now helping friends and family make sense of technobabble by speaking about consumer electronics in every-day terms that most anyone can understand.

Here, at this web site, I hope to share my thoughts and feelings about those products I own, or hope to own, as well as about those things I read out there in the series of tubes we call the Internet.  I want to share and explain what I use and see in such a manner that anyone can better understand the amazing world of consumer electronics.

I hope you enjoy your visit and find it both interesting and informative.  And, of course, if you agree, disagree or desire clarification, please leave a comment.  I welcome all as long as they do not resort to pointless personal attacks.
